Antinoos

Antinoos is a Greek young man of extraordinary beauty and lover of Roman emperor Hadrian. Devastated by his early and unexpected death, Hadrian ordered
statues of him to be erected in all the sanctuaries and cities, in every corner of his empire. Antinoos was glorified and adored as a god. He became a symbol of male homosexuality in western culture.
